Zhejiang Wanli University, a provincial ordinary undergraduate institution with a 75-year history. It has gone through various development stages, including serving as the Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Rural Technical Teachers' College. In 1999, with approval from the Ministry of Education, the university was restructured into a new type of higher education institution which was praised by education experts as “an exemplary practice of the modern university system with Chinese characteristics.” Located in Ningbo, the university spans across Qianhu, Huilong, Ninghai, and Yuyao campuses, with a total construction area of 650,000 square meters. It has developed into an application-oriented university with coordinated development across multiple disciplines including liberal arts, economics, management, law, arts, science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine.
School of Logistics and E-commerce, established in 2010, is the first management school in mainland China to receive the AMBA/BGA Silver Accreditation. It has been selected as one of the first pilot characteristic schools in Ningbo, one of the first modern industrial schools supported for construction in Zhejiang Province, and a modern industrial school in Ningbo. The school comprises three departments: Logistics, E-Commerce, and Business Administration, with a staff of over 100 members. Among them, there is one National Excellent Teacher, one member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Logistics Management and Engineering under the Ministry of Education of China, one vice chairman of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Logistics Management and Industrial Engineering majors in Zhejiang Province, and one member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for E-Commerce majors in Zhejiang Province. Collectively, there have been more than 30 instances of recognition through provincial and municipal talent programs, including Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Masters, “Zhijiang Young Social Science Scholars” in Zhejiang Province, young and middle-aged academic leaders in Zhejiang higher education institutions, leading and top-notch talents in Ningbo, and academic leaders in philosophy and social sciences in Ningbo.
Program Setting and Teaching Scale
The school currently consists of three undergraduate departments—the Department of Logistics, the Department of E-Commerce, and the Department of Business Administration. Additionally, it houses a Postgraduate Cultivation Office and a Logistics and E-Commerce Experiment Center. In terms of academic development, the school is authorized to offer a master’s program in Engineering Management and six undergraduate programs: Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, E-Commerce, Cross-border E-Commerce, Business Administration, and Digital Economy. Among them, Logistics Management and E-Commerce have been recognized as National First-Class Undergraduate Construction Programs. Currently, the school enrolls over 2,700 undergraduate students and more than 250 full-time graduate students.
Disciplinary Platform
The school is authorized to grant master’s degrees in Engineering Management and houses the Key Research Center of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province - Modern Port Service Industry and Creative Culture Research Center. In terms of disciplinary development, the first-level discipline of Management Science and Engineering is recognized as a Zhejiang Provincial First-Class Discipline as well as a Ningbo Municipal Key Discipline (Category A). The second-level discipline of Service Management and Engineering is a Zhejiang Provincial Key Discipline, while Logistics Management and Engineering, as well as Enterprise Management are Ningbo Municipal Key Discipline. The school has jointly established three provincial research platforms in collaboration with government authorities, including the Ningbo Maritime Silk Road Research Institute which is recognized as a Provincial University New Type Think Tank. It also established several research and innovation platforms, such as the “Port Economy” Innovation Team among Zhejiang higher education institutions, an industry-university-research cooperation base with the China Logistics Association, a logistics talent training base with the China Transportation Enterprise Management Association’s Logistics Committee, the Ningbo E-commerce Service and Data Analysis Institute, and the Ningbo E-Government and E-Commerce Research Institute. Furthermore, the school has established strategic partnerships with nearly 100 leading local enterprises across the fields of e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, and e-commerce, providing support for talent cultivation, discipline advancement, and faculty research.
