Course Description

Management is a fundamental course designed for business administration majors, providing students with systematic management theories and methodologies. Through this course, students will gain an understanding of core management concepts, principles, and their applications. The course also covers the historical evolution of management and teaches students how to make effective decisions, design organizational structures, implement leadership strategies, and apply control mechanisms in different organizational environments. The course aims to enhance students’ problem-solving abilities, encourage innovative thinking, and foster social responsibility and sustainable development awareness.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Master the fundamental theoretical framework of management, including its nature, principles, and core methods.

Apply environmental analysis tools (e.g., PEST, SWOT) to make rational decisions, set goals, and develop strategic plans.

Understand the principles of organizational design, the factors affecting it, and the importance of staffing and corporate culture.

Develop communication skills, understand conflict management strategies, and foster teamwork.

Learn various control methods and techniques, including risk management and crisis response.

Strengthen their capacity for innovation and understand the obstacles to organizational change and how to overcome them.

Enhance their personal moral development, adopt a responsible world view, and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

 

Teaching Methods

The course adopts a teacher-led heuristic teaching approach combined with seminar-style discussions. The proportion of each teaching method is adjusted based on students’ academic levels and learning capacities.

Case studies and group discussions are integrated into classroom activities to enhance students’ understanding and application of knowledge.

Traditional Chinese management philosophy and real-life Chinese business case studies are incorporated to strengthen students' cultural confidence and national identity.

 

Assessment Methods

The final grade is composed of three parts:

Continuous assessment (50%) – Evaluates students’ participation, self-directed learning, and assignment quality.

Mid-term assessment (10%) – May include course papers, research reports, or quizzes.

Final exam (40%) – Conducted in a closed-book format with a mix of objective and subjective questions to comprehensively assess students’ understanding of the course material.
