Course Description:
Human Resource Management is a core compulsory course for Business Administration majors. This course aims to help students systematically understand the fundamental theories, techniques, and methods of human resource management, covering areas such as workforce planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation management, and labor relations management. By completing this course, students will master the essential skills required for human resource management and build a solid foundation for future careers in business management, entrepreneurship, or specialized human resource roles.
Learning Outcomes:
Understand the core concepts of human resource management and its role in an organization.
Be able to conduct job analysis, formulate workforce plans, implement employee recruitment and selection processes, and design effective training and development programs.
Gain familiarity with performance management systems, including performance planning, monitoring, evaluation, and feedback, and be able to design preliminary performance assessment programs.
Understand the structure and functions of compensation management and grasp the principles and steps of compensation system design.
Cultivate a practical and realistic approach to work, develop a habit of lifelong learning, and improve leadership, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Teaching Methods:
The course adopts a blended teaching approach that integrates online and offline learning, incorporating project-based flipped classroom methods:
Online teaching: Utilizing the China University MOOC platform’s national high-quality courses to support students’ self-directed learning.
Offline teaching: Encouraging students to conduct independent research and discussion-based learning through project-based flipped classroom activities, with classroom presentations of research findings.
Practical activities: Organizing simulation recruitment sessions, group discussions, and corporate training simulations to enhance students’ hands-on skills and teamwork abilities.
Assessment Methods:
Grades consist of continuous assessment (60%) and a final exam (40%).
Continuous assessment includes scores from online course platforms (such as assignments, quizzes, and discussions), live classroom participation, attendance, classroom performance, ideological and political evaluations, project-based flipped classroom presentations, offline assignments, and practical activities.
The final exam mainly assesses students’ understanding and application of fundamental theories and methods of human resource management.
