Course Description:

Company Finance and Practice is a core required course in the Business Administration program, designed to help students master the fundamental theories, methods, and operational skills of corporate financial management. Through this course, students will understand and apply key financial concepts such as time value of money, risk and return, financial statement analysis, financing decisions, and investment evaluation—laying a solid financial foundation for business decision-making. In addition, the course emphasizes the cultivation of social responsibility and professional ethics, enabling students to apply financial knowledge in a lawful and socially responsible manner.

 

Learning Outcomes:

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts, objectives, and environment of corporate finance;

Master calculation methods related to time value of money and risk-return analysis;

Become familiar with financial statement analysis techniques and tools;

Understand the key factors in long-term financing and internal capital investment decisions;

Teaching Methods:

Given the course’s focus on financial knowledge and complex calculations, a teacher-led heuristic lecture method is the primary approach, supplemented by case analysis and class discussions to enhance students’ understanding and application of concepts. Specific methods include:

Heuristic lectures: Instructors explain key concepts and calculation techniques while encouraging student inquiry and critical thinking;

Case analysis: Real-world examples are used to demonstrate how theoretical knowledge is applied in practice;

Class discussion: Students are encouraged to participate actively, share perspectives, and develop critical thinking and teamwork skills.


Assessment Methods:

Final grades consist of continuous assessment (50%) and a final exam (50%):

Continuous assessment (50%): Focuses on students’ self-directed learning and process performance, including seminar reports, attendance records, and classroom participation.

Final exam (50%): A closed-book exam that includes multiple-choice, multiple-response, short-answer, and calculation-based analytical questions to comprehensively evaluate students’ understanding of both corporate finance theory and practice.
