Prerequisites: Human Resource Management
Target Students: Undergraduate students specializing in Human Resource Management within the Business Administration program
Course Description:
Selection and Evaluation of Human Resources is a module course under the Human Resource Management track of the Business Administration program. Based on a correct and value-oriented understanding of talent—particularly the socialist view of talent—the course is designed to teach students how to carry out effective recruitment and assessment following the principle of person–job fit. The curriculum includes both theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, covering the full recruitment and selection process, common assessment methods, and their technical applications. Through case analysis and simulation exercises, the course enhances students’ practical competencies.
Learning Outcomes:
Understand the significance of recruitment and selection, common pitfalls, and the challenges it faces;
Master the concept and construction of competency models and apply them in talent selection;
Learn how to design and implement various assessment methods such as psychological testing, leaderless group discussions, in-basket exercises, and structured interviews;
Improve practical problem-solving abilities and skills in effective human resource management within organizational settings.
Develop a socialist perspective on talent that values both integrity and competence, and recognize the importance of fairness and scientific principles in the recruitment process.
Teaching Methods:
The course adopts a theory–practice integrated teaching approach, emphasizing class interaction, case studies, and group projects. The theoretical component helps build a strong knowledge foundation, while the practical segment provides opportunities to apply this knowledge in simulated scenarios such as psychological testing simulations, designing and conducting leaderless group discussions, structured interviews, and in-basket exercises.
Assessment Methods:
Final grades consist of Continuous Assessment (50%) and Final Project (50%):
Continuous Assessment (50%): Includes attendance, classroom participation, completion of online psychological assessments, and assignment submissions.
Final Project (50%): Based on a group project report, which includes a job description for the targeted position, a competency model, the design of multiple types of assessment tools (e.g., leaderless group discussion, structured interview, in-basket test), and a contribution rate evaluation for each group member.
