Course Description:
Business English is an elective course designed for undergraduate students in Business Administration, with a total of 48 hours. Taught entirely in English, this course aims to enhance students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through discussions, role-plays, presentations, pair work, and assignments in realistic business contexts. It focuses on essential business communication skills and emphasizes their application in a global business environment. Additionally, the course integrates elements of ideological and moral education, helping students develop sound personal values and a sense of social responsibility.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
Communicate effectively in English in a fully immersive business environment;
Understand and apply basic theories and practical skills of Business English, especially in areas such as self-introduction, corporate communication, and email writing;
Improve business writing and reading comprehension, become familiar with BEC writing and reading requirements, and accurately interpret information in long business texts;
Conduct effective telephone communication for business purposes, including arranging meetings, exchanging information, and responding to customer complaints;
Compare products and services from different companies and use charts to present comparative data;
Develop a strong political awareness, patriotic mindset, and high moral standards, along with a sense of social responsibility and professional dedication.

English-immersion environment: All teaching activities—including lectures, discussions, and assignments—are conducted in English to create a fully immersive language-learning atmosphere.
Case-based instruction: Real-world cases are used to deepen understanding and practical application, helping students apply their knowledge in real business contexts.
Interactive teaching: Students participate in themed discussions and case-based dialogues, fostering critical thinking and meaningful communication; role-plays simulate authentic business conversations, providing hands-on speaking practice.

Assessment Methods:
A diversified evaluation system combining formative and summative assessments is adopted:
Class participation (30%): Includes active involvement in discussions, group presentations, and role-plays, particularly focusing on performance in an English-speaking academic setting.
Assignments and projects (30%): Includes individual writing tests, group projects, and case analysis reports, requiring students to apply their knowledge to real-life business scenarios and express ideas clearly in English.
Final exam (40%): Covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing components of Business English, with an emphasis on students’ ability to apply language skills effectively in an all-English context.
