Course Description:

Academic and Career Development Planning is a compulsory general course designed for undergraduate students in management disciplines. The course aims to guide students in establishing a correct understanding of career ideals and values, and to help them develop career plans based on both societal demands and personal characteristics. By aligning their behavior with future goals, students are encouraged to realize both personal and social value. Through a series of lectures, activities, and practical exercises, the course enables students to gain self-awareness, explore their fields of study, understand the world of work, and formulate personalized academic and career development plans.

 

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

Understand the basic concepts and frameworks of academic and career development planning;

Master scientific decision-making methods and formulate an initial career development plan;

Adapt to future career role transitions and develop qualities such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical skills essential for applied talents;

Build a positive outlook on life, values, and career, aligning personal development goals with national needs and social progress.

 

Teaching Methods:

This course adopts a blended teaching approach that combines lectures, practice, and skills training. Instructional methods include topic-based lectures, case analyses, situational simulations, group discussions, role-playing, and field research. It makes full use of resources such as career assessments, life rainbow charts, and the “Island of Interests” game. It also involves external resources through guest lectures and roundtable sessions with industry experts, successful alumni, and business executives.

Assessment Methods:

Final grades are composed of two parts:

Practical assignments (50%): Tasks include creating a personal life rainbow chart, participating in career-related lectures and activities, designing a resume, writing reflections on course learning, and completing online coursework (e.g., via Erya platform).

Final project (50%): Students are required to develop a five-year career development plan based on their goals and submit a personalized report in the form of the Academic and Career Development Planning handbook.
