Course Description:
Foundation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a general foundational course designed for first-year students across all majors. This course aims to introduce the basic concepts, importance, and applications of innovation and entrepreneurship through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practice. It is intended to spark students’ interest in innovation, enhance their problem-solving capabilities, and lay a solid foundation for their future academic and personal development.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completing this course, students will be able to:
Understand the importance of innovation and master basic methods of innovative thinking;
Identify the core elements of entrepreneurship, such as resources, opportunities, and value creation;
Form and manage efficient entrepreneurial teams, strengthening leadership and communication skills;
Identify and utilize entrepreneurial resources, integrating them effectively;
Design business models and apply them in actual entrepreneurial projects;
Write business plans and present their entrepreneurial ideas through pitch sessions.
Teaching Methods:
This course adopts a practice-oriented teaching approach, supplemented by theoretical instruction. It emphasizes the integration of classroom learning and extracurricular innovation competitions. Multimedia tools and experimental activities are used to inspire students’ passion for innovation, encouraging them to explore real-life problems and develop creative solutions. Students are also guided in writing business plans and encouraged to participate in entrepreneurship competitions to build practical and entrepreneurial capabilities.
Assessment Methods:
The course focuses on process-based evaluation rather than written exams, with an emphasis on classroom participation, hands-on engagement, and task completion.
Final grade composition:
30% Process learning performance (including attendance, participation, engagement, improvement, attitude, and ideological evaluation);
35% Entrepreneurship team performance and pitch presentation;
35% Practical task performance.
