1. Course Description

Leadership and Communication is a compulsory course for Master's students in Engineering Management, designed to cultivate students' leadership qualities and effective communication skills to meet the demands of modern society and the workplace for high-level management talent. The course combines both theoretical and practical elements.

In today's highly competitive business environment, excellent leadership and management skills are crucial for an organization's success. Leadership is not only key to career development but also the foundation for building and maintaining successful teams. A manager's leadership is realized through communication, and strong leadership is inseparable from effective communication. Effective communication between managers and their teams is the essence of any leadership art. The development of communication skills is a prerequisite for students to demonstrate their leadership abilities in future roles.

2. Learning Outcomes

Master Foundational Theories: Students will understand and master the basic theories and models of leadership and communication, as well as their applications in different contexts.

Enhance Analytical Skills: Students will develop the ability to analyze leadership and communication issues in complex organizational settings, identify potential problems, and propose effective solutions.

Strengthen Practical Skills: Through case studies, role-playing, and project assignments, students will enhance their practical skills, particularly in demonstrating leadership and applying effective communication techniques.

3. Teaching Methods

The course adopts experiential and action-based learning methods. Students will engage in leadership and communication training through team activities, literature review, and communication practice. Teaching methods include scenario simulations, role-playing, case studies, and literature review, ensuring the integration of theory and practice.

4. Assessment Methods

The final grade is composed of regular performance and a final exam:

Regular Performance (30%):

Evaluated based on classroom presentations, seminar reports, attendance, participation in discussions, and assignment quality.

Final Exam (70%):

A written exam assessing students' understanding of leadership and communication theories and their practical applications.
